Payal Mehta

Ms. Payal Mehta is  a Partner in TYJ based out in Mumbai, and  considered the dominant presence for corporate mandates. She has immense knowledge and experience in Real Estate, Banking and Financial Regulatory, Insolvency and Bankruptcy, Securities Law, Insurance Laws, Corporate legal, Foreign collaborations and Joint Venture collaborations.

She is holding successful degrees in Commerce & Law from Mumbai University. She also has a post graduate [LLM] degree from NMIMS, Mumbai.

Over the years Ms. Payal Mehta has represented Banks and Financial Entities in ample cases of litigation as well non-litigation matters such as negotiations and settlement meetings, recovery procedures, drafting excellent agreements for loans and mortgages, memorandum of understandings, collaboration agreements etc.. She has represented insurance companies in the High Court of Bombay, Consumer Redressal Forums and helped them meet their legal needs. She has led insolvency matters in the National Company’s Law Tribunal and has her fair share of knowledge and experience in the same. 

She also provides corporate advisory services and has assisted clients on formation of societies, conveyance and deemed conveyance, entire re-development projects of societies, matters related to MHADA and SRA, incorporation of companies, LLPs, structuring of companies, collaborations, winding up etc. She also practices in securities laws in the manner of making thorough statutory and regulatory compliances with the SEBI (Securities Exchange Board of India) and the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) and other Regulatory Bodies, registering with the SEBI, listing and delisting, takeover regulations while also representing and defending the clients whilst regulatory action taken against while also handling related Litigation matters at the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT), The National Companies Law Tribunal (NCLT), The High Court and the Supreme Court. 

Being a writer at heart, she frequently writes on various legal topics. She has received an award for her article on ‘Consumer Protection Act 2019 compared with the Act of 1986. She is a frequent speaker at various colleges and universities. She also takes pride in mentoring the less privileged students who are interested in cracking entrance exams for pursuing Law as a career as her contribution to society.
